The Browns finished with Shedeur Sanders

On Wednesday, rookie Shedeur Sanders suffered an oblique strain during a joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles. Not expected to play Saturday’s preseason game, the Cleveland Browns are left with rookie Dillon Gabriel and veteran backup Tyler Huntley.

Gabriel will potentially be the starter in week two, pending his hamstring rehabilitation, but the Browns will not be moving forward with Sanders for the time being.

“I have no clue what’s going to happen,I look forward to that moment once it comes, and I’ll be right where my feet are. I’ve known the best competitors to be present and be themselves by competing at a high level – just one play at a time,” answered Gabriel in a post-practice press conference.

As far as Cleveland’s front office is concerned, the plan is to keep it fair and give both boys a shot at running a starting offense. But with injury lingering, depth chart loomer Tyler Huntley could get the call.

“Obviously, you know, Snoop (Tyler Huntley) knows exactly what to do, how to do it. So, he is ready to roll. We’ll see who else is available,” said Stefanski during Thursday’s conference.

A very Cleveland Browns situation happening so early into the season only allows you to think the worst.
