Watch MMA fighter stop alleged thief in Barcelona: ‘I gently dropped him’

Gabriel Souza Galindo, a professional MMA fighter with a record of 9-1, used his jiu-jitsu skills to stop a thief during a family trip in Barcelona, Spain.

Galindo, a jiu-jitsu black belt with eight of his nine MMA wins coming by way of submission, posted a video on his Instagram page where he locks a triangle choke and rear-naked choke to control a man accused of robbing a necklace off a Portuguese tourist in the streets of Barcelona.

“The guy ran towards two black belts, brother,” Galindo narrated on the video. “I gently dropped him, he flew down and my brother was there waiting for him. I did some work in the ‘fence’ and confirmed he had robbed the Portuguese’s necklace. I took him down to introduce him to Brazilian jiu-jitsu.”

Galindo said the man tried to bite him, but “gently” told him he would break his arm if he tried that again. Galindo said he and his brother stopped locals from assaulting the man while he was under control, and waited 10 minutes for police to arrive at the scene and arrest the man.

“The Portuguese man recovered his necklace,” Galindo said. “The gringos were introduced to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, ‘our friend’ was f\*cked, and we went to enjoy Barcelona with a good story to tell.”

The 28-year-old MMA fighter, a veteran of ONE Championship and LFA, is currently riding a three-fight winning streak, two of those via first-round rear-naked choke on the Rio de Janeiro circuit.
