Dominic Calvert-Lewin may come under fresh scrutiny from Everton fans after his move to Leeds United.
Calvert-Lewin, 28, has been without a club after leaving Everton at the end of the season, as he failed to agree to a new contract in L4.
The ex-England international has been linked with a number of outfits throughout Europe, with a move taking so long, Calvert-Lewin opted to sideline his agent to represent himself.
Now, the forward has landed himself a move to Leeds United, Everton’s opening day opponent, something which could see him become a true villain on Merseyside.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Calvert-Lewin could cause himself Everton ridicule
It is fair to say that the Toffees have already moved on from the 28-year-old, having signed Thierno Barry from Villarreal earlier in the summer.
This will give David Moyes fresh options moving into the new campaign instead of Calvert-Lewin, especially with Beto sticking around to this stage.
With that being said, the Evertonians may be given an instant flashback to their former striker on the opening day of the Premier League campaign.
This could see Calvert-Lewin come back to haunt Everton with Leeds after completing a move to Elland Road on Friday (15 August).
With Leeds boss Farke confirming that the Englishman can feature against the Toffees, it could be the perfect opportunity to do exactly that on Monday night (18 August).
Considering that the Englishman’s last Instagram post said, “Once a blue, always a blue,” he could easily become the pantomime villain in Yorkshire.
Everton can’t allow Calvert-Lewin to thrive
If anyone knows how to deal with the physicality of the ex-Sheffield United man, it is the Toffees after a nine-year association with the Goodison club.

This is especially the case given the defensive output and strength of the likes of James Tarkowski and Jake O’Brien.
It will be a blow for Everton to be without Jarrad Branthwaite, due to injury, up against Calvert-Lewin in what will hopefully be a positive opening day’s work.
Moyes has to do everything he can to stop Calvert-Lewin playing his own game, otherwise the Evertonians will be left open to unneccessary ridicule.
