**Newcastle United's collective ego has taken a battering this summer with several high-profile targets opting for moves to Premier League rivals.**
For the most part, we could understand their desire to want to play for the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, but losing Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United, the side that finished 15th last season and stunk the Premier League up, and didn't qualify for Europe, that was a kick in the goolies.
It proved a couple of things to Newcastle United. PSR is still a huge problem and is only designed to keep the cartel six safe in their bubble, something that Eddie Howe pretty much agreed with in his press conference this morning.
The other is that, despite the progress the club has made under the new ownership, we're still a way off the cartel clubs in terms of reputation, and some players, particularly foreign players, don't seem to be willing to take the risk in helping Newcastle get to the next stage. They'd rather align themselves with a club that already has that winning reputation, even if they are a shadow of that legacy now.
Eddie Howe hails Bruno Guimaraes as an example of players Newcastle need

However, Eddie Howe did speak about how there are top players out there who do want to join the club and used Bruno Guimaraes as an example.
> "I always think of Bruno. He couldn't wait to wear black and white."He's still in that position - never stopped being that inspirational figure. So he epitomises that.
>
> "A great example of what we need."
Bruno will go down in history as one of, if not Newcastle's best ever, foreign signing

When you consider where Newcastle were when Bruno joined - 19th in the table without a win all season, it really speaks to his character that he joined with such enthusiasm and how that hasn't waned.
Bruno saw the potential, bought into the project and delivered a trophy as captain just three years later.
In a world of Alexander Isaks and Benjamin Seskos, be a Bruno Guimaraes!
