One of the priorities for FC Barcelona in recent weeks was to wrap up Jules Kounde’s renewal. The Frenchman, who remains a key part of Hansi Flick’s project, had a contract that was set to expire in 2027. Fortunately, however, that expiry is no longer an issue for the club.
As officially confirmed by the club, Kounde has extended his stay at the club until 2030. The 26-year-old French defender will continue to provide his services to the club for five more years, and that is great news for Barça.
A versatile asset for Barcelona

Since arriving at the club from Sevilla, Kounde has offered his services in various positions. Initially, he strengthened the team’s defense as a centre-back, and that was originally his primary position and one that he felt most comfortable in.
As time went on, however, he had to take on a new role as a right-back. Ultimately, that role switch would prove to be a great decision as he continues to excel in it and has now established himself as one of the best right-backs in the whole world.
Now, with his contract extended as well, La Blaugrana can rely on his versatility and quality for the years to come. Moreover, thanks to the good understanding with his teammates already, Barça is aware of the fact that retaining Kounde means retaining the team’s great synergy as well.
