‘I would put money on it’: Troy Deeney makes Alexander Isak prediction that he’s so certain about

Alexander Isak’s potential move to Liverpool has turned into the transfer story of the summer.

Isak wants to join Liverpool, while the Reds are keen to sign Isak too.

However, as of yet, no real headway has been made as Newcastle remain reluctant to sell.

With a fortnight to go in the transfer window, Isak could still get his move to Liverpool, and speaking on The Football Exchange Podcast, Troy Deeney has made a prediction about Isak if he does indeed sign for the Reds.

Alexander Isak will outscore Viktor Gyokeres

Deeney was discussing Arsenal’s title chances and Viktor Gyokeres’ credentials up front.

Gyokeres is an exciting new signing at Arsenal, but Deeney doesn’t think he’ll be among the Premier League’s top scorers.

The pundit says that he would actually put money on Isak outscoring Gyokeres if he joins Liverpool.

“Is your top goalscorer going to outscore Salah? No. I don’t think Gyokeres will. Is he going to outscore Haaland? I don’t think he will. And if Liverpool get Isak I would put money on it that he doesn’t. Yeah. So, do you know in those situations with the two pivotal parts of the pitch?”

Alexander Isak’s Sweden record compared to Viktor Gyokeres

It’s very difficult to compare Gyokeres and Isak on account of the fact they’ve both been playing in very different leagues.

Indeed, Gyokeres has been playing over in Portugal while Alexander Isak has been starring in the Premier League, and the standard of football is very different in both leagues.

However, Isak and Gyokeres do have a level playing field at international level as they both play for Sweden.

Both players’ stats for Sweden make for interesting reading.

15 International goals 16

Gyokeres is actually more prolific than Isak for Sweden, and that may well suggest he could put up similar numbers in the Premier League.

Of course, Gyokeres is an unknown quantity at this level at the moment, but there is reason to believe he could be a great signing for Arsenal.
