Ben Doak closing in on a move to Bournemouth

**Ben Doak**is set to sign for **Bournemouth**for a fee of around £25 million from Liverpool.

It is a transfer that should give the Scotsman the space to show what he can do with more minutes.

The 19-year-old moved from **Celtic**for a compensation fee of £600,000 in March 2022, but he has seldom worn the shirt for the Reds. He made his debut in November that year, but only made five appearances for Jurgen Klopp in each of the German's last two seasons in charge of the club.

Last season, he went on loan to Middlesbrough, scoring 3 times in 24 **Championship**matches. His talent was on display with more playing time, as he earned the EFL Player of the Month Award in November for registering five assists in as many matches for the outfit. Now, he wants to kick on.

Arne Slot has seen the board spend over £260 million in Merseyside this summer. **Mo Salah**is still the talisman as a right winger, while Florian Wirtz has joined the team with a reputation as a creative machine from Bayer Leverkusen for a nine figure fee. With **Dominik Szoboszlai**also in contention to be in the lineup as an attacking midfielder, chances were always going to be few and far between.

He might miss out on titles, but Doak would not have to worry about falling down the depth chart.

Doak delivers dynamism to Iraola’s offence

It has been a busy summer for the Cherries. Kepa Arrizabalaga returned from his loan to **Chelsea**before arriving at Arsenal, while Illia Zabarnyi, Milos Kerkez, and Dean Huijsen have headed out.

The club could, at least, be comforted with the fact that no attackers had exited the door. However, **Brentford**have agreed to make Dango Ouattara their record signing for a fee of £42.5 million.

The squad needs reinforcements, and the Scotsman should strengthen the options in their offence.

He excels on the right wing thanks to a low centre of gravity and close control of the ball in 1 v 1 situations. In the Championship, nothing is given for free, and he has shown that he has a relentless drive to dribble at his marker, weave out of challenges, and direct service into the penalty area.

That is the attitude that has typified the forwards for Andoni Iraola. His game model is about energy and constant pressure, and he has liberated his wide men to wreak havoc when they get the chance.

Justin Tavernier, David Brooks, and Antoine Semenyo are other options to play behind the striker. But Ouattara, who also operated as a makeshift striker last year, will be sorely missed. The transfer strategy of the Cherries has been excellent of late, and they hope that this transfer follows the trend.
