**As Newcastle United look ready to accelerate their move for Brentford's Yoane Wissa, the search for a striker capable of filling the void left by Alexander Isak continues.**

Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle United looks uncertain to say the least, with the 25-year-old now on strike in a bid to force a move to Liverpool.

However, Newcastle will not entertain the idea of selling their most valuable asset without feeling they have someone in place who can step up to fill the gap.

Newcastle have tried all summer to sign a high-profile striker but have hit setback after setback.

Goncalo Ramos could still be an option

Goncalo Ramos is back on Newcastle's radar

------------------------------------------

There appeared to be another knockback this week when Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos pledged his future to the European champions after their Super Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

However, [The Daily Mail's Craig Hope has now reported](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-15004579/Newcastle-PSG-striker-Alexander-Isaks-Liverpool.html) that Ramos remains high on Newcastle's ever-decreasing list of striker options.

Newcastle were said to be keen on Ramos when he was at Benfica, but PSG beat the Magpies to his signing. but now he's fallen down the pecking order, and Hope believes a move may still appeal.

Goncalo Ramos could be tempted to lead the line for Newcastle

-------------------------------------------------------------

It could be a tempting option for Ramos to go from being a bit-part player to the main man, especially as he'd still have Champions League football to play for next season.

Ramos has scored 34 goals from 88 appearances for PSG, although only 34 of those games have been starts, which, when you put it as 34 starts, 34. goals, certainly doesn't look bad at all, does it?

Goncalo Ramos is unlikely to be cheap, but if we really want to replace Isak, we're going to have to spend big. Newcastle know they're going to get over £100 million for selling Isak, so they can afford to go big. With time ticking down to the 1st September, they need to act fast.
