Evan Engram says Broncos have ‘championship mindset,’ but must earn it

Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram has been in the NFL for eight years.

He’s played in just two playoff games.

That’s not the fault of Engram as he’s been on largely bad teams with the Giants and Jaguars. His only taste of the postseason came in 2022 with Jacksonville.

But now that the veteran is with the Broncos, he’s finally on a squad that has legitimate championship aspirations.

It’s not only the media saying that’s a possibility, it’s Engram’s head coach Sean Payton as well.

After training camp practice with the Cardinals on Thursday, Engram was asked about dreaming as big as a Super Bowl this season.

“It’s just our mindset. It’s a championship mindset. We’re not really listening or worried about what’s said outside, that’s just our standard every day. That’s something that we have to earn. It’s not going to be handed to us, and it’s not just going to fall in our lap,” Evan Engram said.

It is being said outside the building, but inside as well based on Payton’s comments. Regardless, Engram knows NFL games aren’t won on paper, and even in the AFC West alone the Chiefs and Chargers still loom.

“How we attack every single day is going to push us in that direction,” Engram said. “We can only control the things that we’re in control of.”

Right now the Broncos are in control of a great training camp. Colin Cowherd, for example, said he thinks Denver is having the best one in the NFL.

And Engram is projected to be a huge weapon for sophomore QB Bo Nix this year. If the Broncos are going to get to the mountaintop, Evan Engram will probably be a big reason why.
