There are barely a couple weeks left in the summer transfer window, and Chelsea need to jettison about a dozen or so players, either on loan or, preferably, on permanent transfers.
But that doesn’t mean that we’re going to have our proverbial pants pulled down over the price, as Borussia Dortmund apparently found out today, when we knocked back their “insulting” offer for Carney Chukwuemeka. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who also reports that the offer was a loan with a €20m obligation, plus a “heavy” sell-on clause.
In fairness to BVB, that’s not too far from the numbers (in absolute terms anyway) that were thrown around last week, when it was said that we were “willing to compromise” for a fee (or obligatory clause) of around €25-30m.
Chelsea supposedly have fielded transfer offers from other teams, too, but from where I sit, it sure looks like Dortmund are the only realistic option for Carnz. So hopefully we can compromise on a price and structure that makes everyone happy.
