Jadon Sancho is in negotiations over a move away from Old Trafford, as a former club has re-entered the race for the “Bomb Squad” member.
Earlier in the summer, Manchester United named a group of five players as the “Bomb Squad”, as all needed to leave the club in this transfer window, but only one player has so far.
Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Barcelona has been the only outgoing of the window for United, but it doesn’t raise many funds as it isn’t a permanent move, making a sale even more necessary.
The next player from the “Bomb Squad” to leave Old Trafford will likely be Alejandro Garnacho, as negotiations are progressing with Chelsea. The Argentine must leave as Rúben Amorim banished him from the squad due to his comments in the aftermath of the Europa League final loss.
The other three members – Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho – have all had offers from clubs this window, but have all turned down those proposals because they would prefer to move elsewhere, or would like a bigger salary.
Dortmund re-enter Sancho race
AS Roma are leading the race to sign Sancho from United this summer, as they have made a bid worth £20 million for the English winger, and will push on if Sancho confirms he wants the move, reports Sky Sports.
Gian Piero Gasperini, the manager of Roma, is pushing for Sancho to join the club, but United’s former No.25 wants to “consider all his options” before making a final decision on his future.
The current negotiations are about the player’s contract at Roma, as well as the project for how he will fit into the long-term vision at the Italian side.
However, several clubs are believed to be monitoring Sancho’s situation and could make a move before a deal with Roma is completed. This includes his former club Borussia Dortmund, who were believed to be interested in him earlier this summer.
No way back for Sancho after new signings
There was a time when many thought that Sancho would play a key role in United’s future, either on the right wing or from the left-hand side if Rashford moved through the middle, but those times are now over.

In truth, Sancho didn’t fit Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s counter-attacking, fast-paced football, but he could’ve been an important player for either Erik ten Hag or Amorim if disciplinary issues didn’t let him down.
He now looks set to be replaced at Chelsea by Garnacho, who has also struggled with discipline issues, and move to Italian football to attempt to reignite his career.
For a player who could’ve been one of the best signings in recent years, Sancho has failed to deliver on his promised potential when he originally signed for United.
