Newcastle United will need all the help they can get in midfield this season and Lewis Miley will no doubt be crucial to that.
With Sean Longstaff having left the club this summer, Newcastle United do not have much wiggle room in the centre of the park.
The imminent signing of Jacob Ramsey is a huge boost for Eddie Howe but he’s already confirmed he wants six central midfielders.
Miley, Ramsey and Joe Willock look like the back-up cast for Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton as things stand.
With that in mind, it’s perhaps something of a surprise to see Miley linked with a shock move away.

Ipswich want Lewis Miley on loan
According to The Daily Mail, Ipswich are interested in a loan move for the teenager.
It’s claimed that the Championship club are keen on the Newcastle United academy graduate after missing out on a move for Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney.
They also add that Eddie Howe would be reluctant to lose Miley ahead of a busier campaign next time out in which Newcastle also have the Champions League to contend with.

What Newcastle United are expecting to happen to Lewis Miley
Newcastle expect Miley to have a big season, building on the impressive performances he put in during the 2023/24 campaign.
Miley quickly rose to prominence for Newcastle during that season, emerging as a viable first-team option despite his age while Howe’s side were in the midst of an injury crisis.

The 19-year-old, however, struggled with injury last season. In total, he made only 19 senior appearances for Newcastle and just four of them came from the start.
Newcastle are excited about Miley’s potential and it seems incredibly unlikely that they would let him leave barring a late surge for more midfield reinforcements.
