Liverpool began the season as defending champions with a victory on home soil against Bournemouth. The Reds left it late to secure a 4-2 victory against the Cherries at Anfield on Friday night.
Arne Slot's side had held a 2-0 lead in the fixture thanks to goals from Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo in either half. However, an Antoine Semenyo brace in the second half saw Liverpool in danger of dropping two points in their first match of the new season as defending champions.
Liverpool went on to win the game with late goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah to see the Reds begin the campaign with a victory. Slot and Co. will now prepare for their next match of the new season, where they will face Newcastle United in the Monday Night Football.
