Manchester United are in transition under manager Rubem Amorim, who has worked hard to overhaul his squad this summer.
The Red Devils finished a disappointing 15th in the Premier League last season and the Old Trafford fans will hope for a much-improved campaign in 2025-26.
United have signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko this summer, with the club overhauling their options in attack.
However, after conceding 54 goals last season, Amorim needs to sort out his defence if United are to be a serious force in the Premier League again.

Lindelof receives Leverkusen offer after United exit
One defender that will not be part of the United rebuild this season is Victor Lindelof, who was allowed to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract.

The 31-year-old Sweden international spent eight seasons with the Manchester club after joining from Benfica in 2017.
Despite boasting plenty of experience and versatility, United opted not to renew Lindelof’s contract and cut their losses on the veteran defender.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has stated on X that Bundesliga heavyweights Bayer Leverkusen have offered Lindelof a contract to join them on a free transfer.
The reporter suggests it is a 12-month deal, with the option to extend for a further year.
United lacking options at centre-half
The decision not to extend Lindelof’s contract will come into sharp focus should United start poorly this season or suffer injuries at the back.
United are short of options in defence and with Amorim playing a system with three centre-halves, there is a chance the Red Devils could be caught short this season.

While Lindelof only played in 16 Premier League games last season, losing a player of his experience and versatility could well be a costly mistake.
For the player, a move to Leverkusen and the option to play in the Champions League – something he wouldn’t have received at United – appears to be a perfect option.
