For the better part of the last three months, Juventus have maintained their desire to bring Randal Kolo Muani back to the club after he spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan in Turin. It didn’t matter that they had other matters — arguably more pressing — to resolve this summer, too. They wanted Kolo Muani and they were going to take the ebbs and flows that come with negotiating with a club like Paris Saint-Germain that wanted to recoup a good portion of the massive transfer fee they paid for Kolo Muani two years ago.
It appears a resolution is, finally getting close to being a reality.
According to reports out of both Italy and France on Friday, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on a deal that would see Kolo Muani return to Turin on an initial season-long loan deal before the Bianconeri having an obligation to buy the talented Frenchman next summer. While we don’t know the particulars of how the deal will be structured outside of that, the total cost will be around €55 million — which Juve will likely pay a good portion of up front as part of the loan fee for the 2025-26 season.
The same reports state that Kolo Muani has agreed to personal terms with Juventus on a 1+4 contract that basically equates to a five-year contract when it’s all said and done. What his salary will be in Turin still remains a bit of an unknown considering PSG covered a good chunk of the money when he was on loan last season.
So, the progress that has been sought after for weeks now appears to be happening. At long last, my friends, we have significant progress. Juventus have played the long game when it comes to their pursuit of Kolo Muani beyond the Club World Cup, and it’s clearly paid off now considering that the player has really only wanted to stick with the club in which he got the chance to get things back on track with last season.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Juventus and Kolo Muani have agreed to the terms of his contract with the Bianconeri since June — which is a pretty good sign that he wanted to stay right where he was at the time.
Kolo Muani has also reportedly rejected every other club to try and sign him this summer — a group that has included multiple Premier League sides like Newcastle and Manchester United.
Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Thursday that Juventus move for Kolo Muani was “drawing closer” and that it was not even dependent on the status of the other half of the summer centered around strikers, Dusan Vlahovic, who is still on the roster despite the club’s best efforts to move him and his Serie A-high €12 million net salary this summer ahead of his contract expiring in 12 months. Regardless of where things stand with Vlahovic, Juve general manager Damien Comolli has clearly decided to push forward with the move for Kolo Muani — and appears set to close the deal relatively shortly.
