Notable former player Donte Moncrief joins Ole Miss recruiting and personnel staff

Ole Miss took another step in refilling its recruiting staff on Friday, adding one of the program's most notable players from the past two decades.

Donte Moncrief, who finished with the Rebels in 2013 and had a seven-year NFL career, joins the recruiting and personnel area of the Ole Miss coaching staff, sources confirmed to 247Sports.

Billy Embody of On3 was first with the report.

"They said home is home," Moncrief posted on X. "Feed Moncrief… Sip stay in the Sip." He added exclamation marks, red and blue circles and a lock emoji.

The Rebels had work to do this summer following three departures in that department, as Kelvin Bolden and Alex Brown left for positions with the LSU Tigers and Atlanta Falcons, respectively. Marvin Nash also exited to coach his son in high school.

Ole Miss, as 247Sports first reported at the time, added Old Dominion cornerbacks coach Dwike Wilson 11 days ago. Wilson has major Mississippi connections after time with multiple in-state junior colleges and Southern Miss. He's an Ole Miss alumnus.

Moncrief is from Raleigh, Miss., and played for the Rebels from 2011 to 2013. He caught 156 passes for 2,371 yards and 20 touchdowns. Moncrief declared for the NFL Draft following his junior season and was a third round pick by the Colts.

He's seventh in the school record book in career catches, sixth in career receiving yards and fourth in career touchdowns. Moncrief's 10 touchdowns in 2012 are the third-most in program history.

Moncrief's best NFL season was 2015, when he caught 64 passes for 733 yards and six touchdowns. He had a career-high seven touchdowns in 2016.

Ole Miss opens its season on August 30 against Georgia State. The Rebels have won 10 or more games in three of the past four seasons.
