After the last friendly of pre-season, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke once again voiced out his concerns. The German revealed that the team still needed some reinforcements in attack.
The Whites still had their eye on a move for Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, who was their major target. But after some developments with Italian side Atalanta, Leeds were ready to step away. Then midweek, it was announced that the club had agreed a deal for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

This came as a bit of a surprise, as many reports said the striker was not the first option for Leeds.

When asked about the departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton boss David Moyes said it had more to do with finances than anything. Per his words, the club were not able to offer the striker his preferred demands, so he walked away:
“I’m pleased for Dom, I didn’t really get a chance to work deeply with him; he picked up an injury, I think I had one or two games with him,” Moyes said.
“We found the financials just too much at the time, so we just had to move on. I’m pleased he’s got himself sorted out.”
What Dominic Calvert-Lewin has said about choosing Leeds
In his first words for the club, the 28-year old said Daniel Farke played a big part in his decision to move to West Yorkshire. It was reported that Calvert-Lewin rejected some Premier League sides, including Sunderland.
“It is something that I really, really wanted to be a part of. I also spoke with the manager prior to this and we had a really good conversation and he was a centre-forward himself.
“So, he was just explaining how the life of a centre-forward is and he gave me a feeling of a lot of understanding and it made me really excited to work with him as well. And just the way that the team set up and the way that we set up last season was really attractive for me.”
