Agent of Benjamin Sesko has lifted the lid on why the striker turned down Newcastle and Arsenal for Manchester United.
Sesko turns down chance to join Arsenal or Newcastle
For over a year, Benjamin Sesko has been a hot topic in European football. The young Slovenian striker built his name at RB Leipzig and quickly became a target for PL giants.
Meanwhile, Arsenal pushed hard last summer but Sesko stayed in Germany with a fresh deal. **Newcastle**later threw big money on the table, offering around £75m this summer, only to see him head elsewhere.
At the end, Man United walked away with his signature on a five-year contract. As per his agent Elvis Basanovic, this wasn’t a last-minute twist but something that had been on the cards for years. He revealed in an interview with Slovenian TV that Sesko had always dreamed of wearing the red shirt at Old Trafford. Additionally, that has nothing to do with rejecting Arsenal or Newcastle. But, he waited for the right moment to fulfil a plan that started long ago.
A dream in the making
Basanovic explained that Sesko’s camp had mapped out this path carefully. Back when the forward was only 15, they visited Man Utd’s academy and saw the club as his future home. Moving too early would have stalled his development. So, the family and agent kept their patience until the timing was perfect. For Newcastle, the blow will sting given their heavy bid. And, Arsenal fans will be left wondering what might have been.
Now, the player has the chance to lead the line at Old Trafford. He will be eager to write his own chapter in a club that has always captured his imagination. Fittingly, his first test in a United shirt could not be more poetic. On August 17, Ruben Amorim’s side kick off their PL season against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
