Everton hit by major doubts ahead of Leeds United clash

Leeds United will kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Everton. Elland Road will experience top flight football for the firs time since 2023.

The Whites will be confident of getting a result at their home ground. Leeds won more than half of their points last season at Elland Road. Ahead of Monday’s game, Daniel Farke said the home support should play a huge part:

”For a newly-promoted side, it’s crucial you have a really good home record. We made Elland Road a fortress in the Championship, won many games and many points. We know it will be difficult to win the same amount [in the Premier League], but we have to make a fortress out of Elland Road again.”

David Moyes already complained earlier this month about the club not able to bring in new faces so close to the season. But since then, the likes of Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have been signed.

However, the toffees could be without up to four first team stars. Jarrad Branthwaite has been ruled out for multiple weeks with a hamstring injury – an issue David Moyes was frustrated about being leaked to the media.

Vitaliy Mykolenko could also miss the game. The Everton left-back was forced off early in their last friendly with a groin problem. The latest on him is that he is to be assessed. Nathan Patterson was not seen in training, with reports suggesting he had picked up a hernia. And toffees youngster Harrison Armstrong has a thigh problem.

They could all face late tests ahead of Monday’s game.

Leeds United have injury worry of their own

Another player who faces a race against time for the Premier League opener is Jayden Bogle. The right back sat out the last two pre-season friendlies with a knock. Daniel Farke said on Friday that Bogle will take part in training, before being assessed ahead of Monday:

”It depends how his body reacts. Thank God we have four more sessions and then we will see. If he comes though these four sessions he’s a topic for the squad.”
