“Why Would You?”–Ian Wright Questions Whether 23 Cap International Should Sign For Liverpool

**Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he has his doubts that Marc Guehi will play ahead of Ibrahima Konate if he signs for Liverpool this summer.**

The former striker thinks that the 25-year-old could put his place in the England team at risk if he ends up moving to Anfield and sitting on the bench:

“If you look at someone like Guehi right, why would you leave now? It’s a World Cup year, you don’t want to go somewhere you might not play because Konate’s still there isn’t he?”

Liverpool are said to be in contact with [**Guehi**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-marc-guehi-parlour/)‘s club, Crystal Palace, about a deal, although the two teams are currently some way apart on the transfer fee.

Will Guehi play if he moves to Liverpool?

-----------------------------------------

There is no doubt that the Englishman, who has been capped 23 times by his club, will have his work cut out getting ahead of Konate and captain Virgil van Dijk in the pecking order.

However, Konate has had his injury problems, and there are doubts over the Frenchman’s future, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

That should give Guehi cause for optimism that he will be given chances to start for the Merseyside club on a regular basis.

Are other teams interested in the centre-back?

----------------------------------------------

While Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea have also been mentioned as potential suitors for Guehi in recent weeks, the general belief is that he has prioritised a move to Anfield.

Palace chairman Steve Parish has publicly stated that the defender won’t be allowed to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires, so you do feel that an agreement between Liverpool and the Eagles will be reached before the transfer window closes on September 1st.
