Exclusive: Leicester City's stance on key players revealed as Valencia eye duo and Abdul Fatawu is wanted by Everton

The transfer window has been rather frustrating for Leicester City.

King Power’s financial worries mean that little to no money has been spent and there have only been outgoings in this window.

Asmir Begovic is the only arrival, brought in to be the backup goalkeeper to Jakub Stolarczyk, after Mads Hermansen left to join West Ham United.

Leicester also missed out on Richard Kone after he opted to join QPR instead.

While the squad continues to shrink, some more key players could be on the list of departures and EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal what Leicester’s stance is.

Leicester likely to continue selling in transfer window

In recent days, interest in other key players has increased.

Everton like Abdul Fatawu and then Valencia are also said to be eyeing up a double swoop for Harry Winks and Patson Daka.

Bilal El Khannouss is another likely candidate and while EFL Analysis’ Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey thinks he is the most likely to go, predicts that there will be plenty heading for the exit door at the King Power Stadium.

He said: “Obviously, we know Valencia like Winks and Daka as well. When you have players of that calibre at this level, I wouldn’t necessarily rule sales out. That’s the same with El Khannouss. From what I’m hearing, I think he is the most likely out of everyone to go and Leicester know it. I think he’ll raise the most money.

“We know Fatawu is interesting to Everton too, so, there’s interest in quite a lot of the players, which again isn’t surprising. These clubs are going to try and look towards the end of window. I don’t think Leicester would like to lose an awful lot of these big names but there’s interest emerging in quite a few of them.

“It’s hard with the squad numbers. I think they do like Daka and think he’s quality and they would like to keep him but when you’re in the Championship you have got to potentially listen to offers.”

Leicester need to make one outfield signing this summer

When it comes to the Championship, it’s hard to disagree when saying that the Foxes have one of the strongest squads in the league.

Despite that, there is one glaring weakness: the lack of a proven striker.

To put into context, both goal scorers in Leicester’s win against Sheffield Wednesday were both defenders.

Missing out on Kone opens up alternatives, but there is a real concern that Jamie Vardy’s goals are not going to be replaced.

Time is ticking and Cifuentes will be hoping the owners can change things for the better.
