Bayern made ‘concrete’ approach to sign 22y/o attacker; he wants Chelsea move

Bayern Munich have reportedly made a ‘concrete’ enquiry to sign RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons before the transfer deadline day.

Simons is being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, but the Blues first need to offload some of their out-of-favour players to make room for new additions.

The German champions are also interested in signing Christopher Nkunku, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the end of the window.

Bayern have been heavily linked with a move for Simons this summer, but they were primarily focused on signing Diaz.

After Kingsley Coman has left the club to join Al-Nassr, Bayern now feel the need to add one more winger to their ranks, and they have rekindled interest in Simons.

Christian Falk previously told CFBayern that Max Eberl has a strong connection with Simons. At the same time, club president Herbert Hainer admitted that losing top players from the Bundesliga is not a healthy sign for the league.

We previously reported that the versatile winger can leave Leipzig for around £70m, but the Bundesliga club realistically could accept an offer in the region of £60m.

Florian Plettenberg claims that Bayern have made ‘concrete’ enquiries to sign Simons in recent weeks, but a deal is unlikely to happen.

Christian Falk told CFBayern that Simons is wholly focused on moving to Chelsea, but an interesting development is likely to take place involving Nkunku.

Bayern want to sign the French winger, having failed to land him in the January window, and his potential departure could pave the way for Chelsea to sign Simons.

Xavi Simons would have been a brilliant signing for Bayern

The 22-year-old scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga last season and provided seven assists.

He is a versatile attacker who can play across all positions up front. Widely regarded as one of the finest young talents in Europe, Simons can reach world-class levels in a few years.

Nkunku has struggled at Chelsea, and clearly the move did not work for him. That does not mean he cannot resurrect his career at Bayern.

It will be a win-win situation for all parties involved.
