Villa hold talks over Trossard move

Aston Villa have held talks with Arsenal about a possible transfer for Belgian international Leandro Trossard.

There were suggestions at the start of the summer that Trossard was going to be offered a new contract, with improved terms, but no extension of length, but, in the end, he declined to sign it preferring to explore his other options instead.

This is not the first time that the Birmingham club have enquired about his availability, with similar conversations taking place in January.

Valued at around ₤18 million, that figure is well within reach of Villa, who are set to sell both Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle and Leon Bailey to Roma.

Trossard has been informed of Villa’s interest and any move is ultimately up to him, although there are other clubs reported to be interested in a player, who was signed from Brighton in January 2023, and has proved to be a valuable squad player under Mikel Arteta.
