Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes have shown that one key first-team Manchester United star was not playing up a major “aim” for the 2025-26 Premier League season.
The Red Devils will return to Premier League action on Sunday for their first match of the 2025-26 campaign, with Manchester United playing against rivals Arsenal.
United will host the Gunners at Old Trafford for their Premier League opener on the weekend, with kick-off for the showdown planned for 4:30pm UK time.
All eyes are on how Ruben Amorim will perform with United in the new season after the Red Devils’ woeful 2024-25 campaign, which saw them finish 15th in the table.
The Red Devils will be without any European football for the 2025-26 season as well after United suffered a 1-0 Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May.
Ruben Amorim fell short of his first piece of major silverware as United manager and the club missed out on snatching Champions League football after the loss to Spurs.

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes show where Man Utd players’ mentality is at right now ahead of the new Premier League season
Speaking to GQ magazine, Manchester United midfielder Casemiro was asked which Premier League team will take home the Premier League trophy in the new season.
The 33-year-old former Real Madrid star didn’t hesitate in backing United to win their first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
Bruno Fernandes has also touched on the new Premier League season and his feelings on the forthcoming clash for United against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old United captain, much like Casemiro, shared his sentiment in seeing the Red Devils win the Premier League trophy while he is still at the club.
“I’ve always said I want to win the Premier League with this club. I want to win the Champions League,” Fernandes told The Sydney Morning Herald.
“I want to win every competition that I’m involved in with the club. Who doesn’t? But my aim now has to be Arsenal […] because getting those three points will put me closer to what I want in the future.”

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes have both echoed Luke Shaw’s powerful remarks about Man Utd players
During the pre-season summer tour of the United States, Luke Shaw made his feelings perfectly clear on the Red Devils’ chief “aim” for the 2025-26 season.
The 30-year-old United left-back revealed that the focus is to win the Premier League, despite the noise that could be made about the previous campaign.
Luke Shaw argued that the “whole team” shared the Premier League trophy ‘aim,’ with Casemiro and Fernandes’ words backing up the United defender’s claim.
“The aim has to be winning the Premier League,” he said in July, as per BBC Sport.
“I know people will be questioning me for saying it after last season but it has to be that and it’s not just me that thinks that.
“I’m sure the whole team if you ask them all have the same aims, even the manager.
“I’m sure he wouldn’t say it in the press but we have to have the same beliefs and ambitions.”
The Red Devils lifted all 13 of their Premier League trophies during the legendary reign of iconic former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
