While the offensive starters only played the first series, it gave players like George Holani and Damien Martinez and chance to show off what they could do. Holani finished the night with five carries for 49 yards and Martinez had 50 yards on 11 carries and scored his first NFL touchdown.
"It was crazy, being in there with the guys, them celebrating, probably more than me, but it was cool," Martinez said. "It was just a good feeling, getting back in the end zone and be out there with the guys."
Along with Holani and Martinez, Jacardia Wright, the rookie out of Missouri State and Zach Charbonnet also had solid days.
"It was great to see the running backs eats today," Holani said. "Getting Dame in there, his first touchdown. That was pretty cool to see. Zach finally got to get in there, get his feet wet, but that's things we see every day for the running backs. Jacardia Wright, he had a crazy run where, I thought he was down, but he was still up. I was like, 'Dang. He got like 15 yards out of that.' Just getting that second effort, just really showing up.
Adding that it was a joint effort for the backs to have as successful as a day as they had, Holani said, "All around it was good from the receivers blocking, tight ends blocking and the o line blocking."
