Newcastle United board member Jamie Reuben has sent a message to fans ahead of the start of the new season, subtly mentioning the Alexander Isak saga.
With Liverpool and Bournemouth kicking off the campaign with a thriller on Friday night, it is the Magpies’ turn to give fans hope that the 2025/26 campaign can be a successful one, despite what has happened off the pitch.
The summer has been marred by speculation that Alexander Isak could leave Newcastle United during the transfer window, with defending Premier League champions Liverpool very interested.
However, Newcastle stand firm that Isak is not for sale, and they are not willing to let him go unless an offer in the region of £150million comes in. Reports have suggested that Isak is on strike and will likely be fined if he misses the first competitive game of the season away at Aston Villa.
Fans are feeling pessimistic following a turbulent summer, but co-owner Jamie Reuben has taken to social media with a message to calm the nerves before the new campaign.

Jamie Reuben thanks Newcastle United fans after ‘eventful summer’
Eddie Howe’s side have missed out on several players this summer, despite a lot of work being done by the Toon boss’s recruitment team. The likes of Benjamin Sesko, Joao Pedro, and Hugo Ekitike have turned down moves to the North East for other Premier League clubs.
The summer has still been positive, however, with three signings already confirmed and a fourth soon to be made.
Newcastle fans have called for transparency from the club’s owners, and Reuben has finally shared his message on X with the Aston Villa clash on the horizon.

“Ahead of a new Champions League season, I want to renew our thanks to our supporters for their unwavering commitment to @NUFC once again,” he said.
“Definitely an eventful summer, and I am sorry I was not able to communicate more directly, but everyone from ownership down was working tirelessly to ensure we have the best possible season ahead. Safe travels to Villa Park and Up The Mags.”
More work needs to be done before Newcastle United’s summer is deemed successful
Jacob Ramsey is soon to be announced as a Newcastle player, taking the Magpies’ summer additions to four. However, Howe has stated that he still wants new signings before the window closes in September.
Reuben has been actively involved in transfer deals, some successful, with others to no avail. It was reported that Reuben held positive talks with Sesko, giving the club hope that he would join Newcastle instead of Manchester United. Sadly, the Slovenian’s heart was set on the Red Devils.
With his message to the fans, Reuben must be aware that more work needs to be done in the transfer window. Whether it is getting Isak back into Newcastle’s first-team squad or bringing new players in, something must be done.
Newcastle’s trip to Villa will be a huge test for Howe and his players. Fans will be quick to point out the main issues plaguing the squad if things go wrong.
