New contender for Echeverri – Manchester City unsure about German offer

Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for Claudio Echeverri, submitting a loan offer with a purchase option to Manchester City.

That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, withjournalist Patrick Berger reporting that the Bundesliga side now consider the 19-year-old Argentine a serious target. Echeverri is said to be highly rated by BVB, who believe he could thrive in their setup.

However, there’s a catch: Manchester City are not fully sold on the idea. The Premier League champions still have doubts about Dortmund being the best destination for the youngster’s development.

That stance mirrors earlier reports suggesting City would prefer to send Echeverri to Girona, a club within the same ownership group, where they believe his style would be a better fit.

This latest twist adds another layer to the saga, which already includesinterest from AS Roma. The Italian club evensent an official to England to try and finalise a deal with City in person.

Echeverri, who arrived in January and has featured three times for Pep Guardiola’s side, seems likely to leave on loan this summer. Where exactly he’ll land remains wide open.
