Mikel Arteta outlines what he expects from Man Utd this season, 'they will be...'

Mikel Arteta expects Manchester United to be stronger this season as they look to put a misreable 2024/25 campaign behind them.

It will be Ruben Amorim’s first full season as Manchester United head coach, and he is hoping to see the team bounce back to winning ways. The first six months were extremely difficult for Amorim, with the Red Devils losing the Europa League and finishing 15th in the Premier League.

After adding three new attackers to the squad this summer, United are expected to improve and score more goals than they managed in the Premier League (44) last term. The new forwards include Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.

United start their campaign with a home game against Arsenal on Sunday. It marks a tough start, but a golden opportunity to take points from one of our rivals early on in the season.

Mikel Arteta makes Manchester United prediction

The Premier League kicks off with the 244th all-time meeting between United and Arsenal.

United’s rivalry with Arsenal has delivered some drama, plenty of goals and title-defining moments down the years and Sunday’s clash could be another one to remember.

Speaking to the media before Arsenal’s season opener, Arteta was asked whether he expected United to improve this season.

Arteta told reporters: “I don’t know, they will be different as well and the manager will have more time with them. They have a pre-season, they made some really good signings as well like anybody else. I think they strengthen, and they will be better than last year, like the rest of the teams.”

Arteta’s memories against Man Utd

Arteta has faced United many times throughout his playing and managerial career.

In addition, he told the press that he has some great memories from his battles against United.

Arteta accepts that the rivalry has changed over the years.

“Well, it’s a lot. It’s some great memories. It’s history,” he said. “It’s the clashes when I was younger as well and there were some massive characters as well playing for both teams and it created something different in those games.

“Now it is different but still it’s going to be super intense and I’m very excited.”
