THE [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/) are hopeful of securing a deal for Liverpool’s Ben Doak, the Daily Echo understands.

Reports yesterday suggested that AFC Bournemouth and the Reds were in discussions over the Scottish midfielder for a move that could be worth £25million.

And the Cherries are hopeful that a deal can be reached with the Premier League champions, who beat Andoni Iraola’s side 4-2 on the opening day of the season on Friday night.

Doak was signed by Liverpool for £600,000 from Celtic in 2022, with the 19-year-old since making 10 appearances for the Anfield club.

He has been hampered by injury in recent seasons, but went on loan to Middlesbrough last term, scoring three goals and notching seven assists across 24 matches.

The young winger has six caps for Scotland, with a number of clubs reportedly interested in signing him, but the Cherries look to be leading the race and are hopeful of getting across the line.

With Dango Ouattara seemingly on the way out of the Cherries, with a move to Brentford looking set to happen, wing reinforcements are needed in Dorset.

The club have successfully replaced Kepa, Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen with Djordje Petrovic, Adrien Truffert and Bafode Diakite, but they will still be looking to sign another centre back to replace Illia Zabarnyi.
