David Ornstein shares new update on Leeds United target Bilal El Khannouss of Leicester City

Bilal El Khannouss is a player with significant interest from Leeds United and Crystal Palace, with Premier League clubs eyeing the Leicester City ace.

Only 21, Bilal El Khannouss has plenty of potential but also the ability to impact games now. He is a set-piece taker and Leeds United are a team full of height and physicality.

It was said Leeds held a meeting with El Khannouss’ camp a couple of weeks ago and also that El Khannouss’ wage demands are not an issue for the West Yorkshire outfit.

It’s been reported by some that Leicester are likely to sell El Khannouss and it’s also thought that playing in Europe is not decisive for El Khannouss in terms of which club he decides to join this summer.

Leeds’ El Khannouss interest has been most significant of any of the reported teams in the mix for his signature. However, it appears that may now have changed.

David Ornstein’s Crystal Palace update on Bilal El Khannouss

Newcastle United have dropped out of the El Khannouss race. However, at the same time as that, West Ham United have registered El Khannouss interest.

The other club with the strongest interest in the player appears to be Crystal Palace who like El Khannouss and see him as a potential Eberechi Eze replacement.

David Ornstein of The Athletic has shared the latest regarding Palace’s efforts for El Khannouss. He states that Palace have approached Leicester to explore a potential move for El Khannouss.

He adds that the terms of an exit are complex and there is no guarantee he will leave the King Power Stadium and that Palace are among those whose admiration was well documented.

However, they have now established club-to-club contact to express that interest. No offer has yet been submitted but it is thought El Khannouss would be open to the idea of the move.

The situation regarding Bilal El Khannouss’ release clause explained

It’s been reported that El Khannouss would cost around £22 million due to a release clause in his deal. That was initially, but the latest reports say El Khannouss’ clause is actually a huge £29 million fee this summer.

Leeds United News also shared the same as Ornstein regarding the fact El Khannouss could yet remain a Leicester player now that the release clause date has passed.

It is understood that El Khannouss’ release clause expired on August 15th (yesterday). That means Leicester can demand more for the playmaker.

Leeds will have to act fast if they are to convince him over Palace, who appear to be stepping up their interest in the playmaker.
