Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Eberechi Eze. Now, the Crystal Palace star’s camp are hinting that personal terms would not be an issue.
As per talkSPORT, Spurs are preparing a formal bid and see Eze as a perfect No.10 option. That is especially after James Maddison has been sidelined by injury. Boss Thomas Frank needs a new playmaker in the team ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are keeping their eye on the playmaker as well. But, Spurs are working fast to strike first and avoid a drawn-out transfer battle. Eze’s desire to remain in London has put both clubs in pole position. But, the willingness from his camp gives Tottenham a clear edge.
Gunners delay could cost them big
Arsenal’s hesitation might end up playing into Tottenham’s hands. The Gunners have shown interest but remain cautious. That is especially with young talents Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman pushing for first-team minutes. Eze might be thinking about how much game time he would get if he were to move to the Emirates. Tottenham are now keen to move faster but not ready to trigger the full £68m release clause.
Spurs instead value Eze closer to £55m. That is a figure in line with Mohammed Kudus’ recent move to West Ham. Palace will have the final say, but Spurs are confident that an opening offer can at least get talks moving.
Eze’s stock has never been higher after producing a career-best eight assists in the league. He inspired Palace to FA Cup glory with goals in each of the last three rounds. With Arsenal moving slowly and Spurs pushing forward, the next few weeks could be key for Eze. It will likely decide whether the player lights up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or the Emirates.
