Rangers have reportedly identified Brentford's Jayden Meghoma as a quickfire replacement for Jefte at Ibrox.
Sources in Brazil state that Jefte, 21, is closing in a on a move back to South America with Palmeiras that will see Gers bank a stellar £6million fee.
And according to The Rangers Review, youngster Meghoma is now on their radar having worked under Russell Martin at Southampton.
The 19-year-old only joined the English Premier League side from Saints in a £10million switch 12 months ago but has found minutes hard to come by in West-London.
The England Under-19 international has made just four appearances for the Bees and spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship with Preston North End, where he made 12 outings.
Meghoma was also part of the Three Lions squad that won the Pinatar Cup last year and appeared at the U-19 European Championship in Romania earlier this summer.

The Light Blues could also be set to lose another left back this summer, with Besiktas confirming that they are in talks to re-sign Ridvan Yilmaz.
The Turkey international arrived at Ibrox under Giovanni van Bronckhorst back in 2022 but has been a bit-part player at best in his 74 appearances.

Yilmaz has been left out of Rangers' Champions League squad by Russell Martin and earlier this week, Besiktas president Serdal Adali revealed they are working hard to bring the defender back to his boyhood club.
He said: "We've focused all our efforts on the left wing.
"We've spoken with Ridvan Yılmaz. Nothing has been finalised.
"We're talking to his agent and his club."
