Official: Barcelona announce squad for La Liga opener against Mallorca

After a highly successful 2024-25 season, FC Barcelona are set to return to action for the 2025-26 season tonight as they face Mallorca at the Son Moix.

The Catalans will be keen to make a flying start to their league campaign as they look to defend their La Liga title. However, this upcoming match would be quite challenging, as Mallorca has been quite a solid side for the last few years, and they will also have the home advantage.

Furthermore, Hansi Flick will be without several key players for the match. Barcelona have released their official squad list, and notable absentees include Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin, Roony Bardghji, Marc Bernal, Oriol Romeu, Hector Fort, Robert Lewandowski, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Szczesny, Martin, and Bardghji are still awaiting registration with La Liga, while Romeu and Fort, who are expected to leave the club, have not been called up. Lewandowski and Ter Stegen remain sidelined as they recover from injuries, while Bernal, who is nearing the end of his recovery from an ACL injury, has also been left out.

On the other hand, Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford have been registered and called up for this game. Similarly, youngsters like Jofre Torrents, Dro, Guile Fernandez, and Toni Fernandez have also been called up for this game after their impressive performances in the preseason.
