Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills enter the 2025 NFL season with high expectations, but skepticism about their playoff potential persists. Former Super Bowl champion Chris Canty recently expressed doubts about Allen’s ability to lead his team past their postseason roadblocks, particularly against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Canty pointed to the team’s disappointing playoff record against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, where Allen is 0-4. Despite Buffalo’s dominance in the AFC East and Allen’s immense talent, Canty believes the Bills face significant challenges in overcoming one of the league’s most consistent powerhouses. He rated Buffalo’s Super Bowl chances at just one out of ten.

The Chiefs’ sustained playoff success, led by Mahomes, has been a recurring obstacle for Buffalo. Since 2018, Mahomes has appeared in five of the last six Super Bowls, establishing Kansas City as the team to beat in the AFC. This history has created a psychological and tactical hurdle that Buffalo has yet to overcome.
While Canty acknowledged Allen as one of the NFL’s most talented quarterbacks, he emphasized that talent alone won’t suffice in the postseason. He argued that Buffalo’s inability to execute in high-pressure games against elite opponents remains a glaring issue. This struggle continues to cast doubt on whether Buffalo can capitalize on its regular-season success.

Canty recently doubted Allen by saying he won’t be able to bring his team to the Super Bowl. This can be seen in a post shared by First Take’s official Instagram account.
Buffalo’s upcoming season will be pivotal in determining whether they can finally break through in the playoffs. The team’s roster and coaching are built to contend, but their path to the Super Bowl likely runs through Kansas City once again. Overcoming that challenge will require a shift in both execution and mindset.

For Allen and the Bills, the 2025 season represents an opportunity to rewrite their narrative. However, doubts from analysts like Canty highlight the urgency of proving they belong among the NFL’s elite contenders.
