Man United youngster Toby Collyer is on the verge of a temporary move to West Brom. Reportedly, the talks are now reaching the final stage.
West Brom win the race for Collyer
**Manchester Utd**‘s exciting midfielder Toby Collyer is close to a move to West Bromwich Albion on loan for the season. Talks have taken place with multiple Championship clubs, but it seems that Toby Collyer may end up with the Baggies.
As per Fabrizio Romano, talks are at a more advanced stage, and the deal is being finalized soon. There is no buy option in the loan, which tells that Man Utd see Collyer as part of their long-term future. West Brom has managed to overcome competition the land the United star. They will be adding more much needed bodies in the midfield.
Collyer has been tipped for big things since joining Utd from Brighton’s academy in 2022. He made six PL appearances last season and also featured in domestic cups and Europe under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim. Despite that, he has struggled to cement a place in the starting eleven given United’s midfield depth. Regular minutes on the pitch at Old Trafford would have been hard to come by. So, it’s better for the player to take a step down to gain regular football, especially given his promise at the start of the season.

Big opportunity in the Championship
This loan represents a purposeful move by West Brom. They have occupied around the play-off zone but have struggled to go the next step into promotion. Adding a highly rated youngster like Collyer to their midfield could add energy and fighting spirit. Manager Ryan Mason is keen to inject energy into the side and Collyer’s versatility makes him a strong addition. Regular football in the second tier could be exactly what the youngster needs to sharpen his game and return to United as a more complete player.
United kick off their PL season against Arsenal without Collyer in the squad. But, the club will be watching closely as their young star looks to shine in the Championship.
