Manchester United, AC Milan could finalise €45m package for 22-year-old, surprise swap deal…

AC Milan and Manchester United remain in talks as they look to finalise a €45 million package for Rasmus Hojlund.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, AC Milan remain keen on acquiring the services of Rasmus Hojlund as they look to reinforce their attack. The Serie A giants are in talks with Manchester United as both clubs are looking to quickly finalise the Danish striker’s move to Milan.

Hojlund made a name for himself while playing for Atalanta. On the back of his impressive performances, Manchester United forked out a significant fee to sign him in the summer of 2023. While he has done a decent job, the 22-year-old has not lived up to the expectations.

With Benjamin Sesko joining the Reds Devils, Rasmus Hojlund is now surplus to requirements at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have been working hard to get him off their books, and they are ready to accept an initial loan move.

While multiple top clubs have been linked with the young striker, AC Milan have been the most serious suitor so far. The Rossoneri are keen on having a new number nine, and they feel Hojlund could be an ideal fit for Massimiliano Allegri’s system.

AC Milan and Manchester United could soon reach an agreement

After long drawn negotiations, AC Milan have already agreed on the formula of the transfer and are now looking to finalise the fee involved. Manchester United have been looking for a package worth €50 million, including an initial loan fee plus a buy option for next summer, to part ways with Rasmus Hojlund.

However, the Rossoneri are looking to finalise things for €40 million. Both clubs believe they will have to make some concessions to reach a common ground. As a result, there is a belief that an agreement could be reached for a package of around €40 million. The arrangement should be a €5 million loan fee, with an option to buy set at just under €40 million.

While Rasmus Hojlund is seeking assurance of a permanent move, that is not a major concern. AC Milan have already guaranteed the 22-year-old that they can cover his current wages of less than €4 million per season.

Manchester United could propose a swap deal involving Rasmus Hojlund

Both clubs remain in talks to finalise a deal, but in the meantime, Manchester United are also considering a potential swap involving Mike Maignan, according to Sebastien Vidal. The Red Devils want a top-quality goalkeeper as they are not fully convinced by Andre Onana’s performances.

With Maignan’s contract running down, Manchester United could propose a swap deal involving Hojlund and the French international. However, it remains to be seen whether AC Milan would be open to such a move.
