Amad would expect to be one of the first names on the Manchester United teamsheet, given his impressive exploits last season. However, Ruben Amorim could hand him some disappointing news ahead of Sunday's Premier League opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old Ivorian looks primed for a permanent tenancy as United's right-wing-back this term after an attack-focused summer transfer window. Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko have all arrived for a combined £210million, and they will make up Amorim's first-choice front three.
The Portuguese head coach made that abundantly clear ahead of the Arsenal clash, when he called on Cunha and Mbeumo to step up and ease the goalscoring burden on Prem newboy Sesko.
"We need to give him time," Amorim explained during a recent interview with Sky Sports. "I think Bryan [Mbeumo] and Cunha have more responsibility, at the moment, than Sesko.
"Sesko needs time to adapt to England, to adapt to the league. So let's give a little bit more time, and let's push everything on Bryan and Cunha."
Amad's inclusion at right-wing-back promises to be effective in matches where United are up against low blocks and require as much creativity as possible to break them down.

Arsenal's visit is not one of those occasions, though.
Mikel Arteta's side will not just be expected to win at Old Trafford, but they should dominate possession while the hosts play on the counter-attack.
Amorim will need his wing-backs to regularly support the back three - likely to be made up of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw.
Patrick Dorgu should not have any issues in doing so, but Amad is a winger and could struggle to track Gabriel Martinelli or whoever Arteta starts on the left.

Diogo Dalot was among Amorim's most-used players last season and is more likely to get the nod against Arsenal.
The 26-year-old offers more defensive stability and, while not as effective going forward as Amad, can provide outswinging crosses for United's new 6ft 5in striker, Sesko.
It would be a surprise if Amad did not feature whatsoever. Sesko is unlikely to last the full 90 minutes, as the Red Devils' latest addition and could make way for the No. 16 in the second half.
But between Amad and Dalot, Amorim has a new headache with which he must ensure he finds the right balance.
