Manchester United are considering a move for Feyenoord star Quinten Timbe. He is seen as a stronger tactical option for their midfield rebuild.
United monitoring Feyenoord star
Manchester United’s summer rebuild has turned toward Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber as they struggle to land Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.
With Christian Eriksen gone, Casemiro fading and Mason Mount stuck on the injury list, the midfield has become an issue. Baleba has long been the preferred target. But, the reported £120m price tag is proving a major block. That has pushed the Red Devils to scout Timber. He is a player who could fill the gap without breaking the bank.
Football Transfers claim that United have been keeping a close watch on the Dutchman. The player has less than a year left on his contract at Feyenoord. That situation puts the Eredivisie club in a position to sell, as opposed to risk losing him for nothing next year. The timing works for Man Utd. With finances stretched and PSR regulations looming, Timber’s lower price makes him a good option.

Timber fits the bill
Beyond cost, there are tactical reasons why Timber may be the smarter play. Reports suggest several figures inside Old Trafford believe his style suits the system better than Baleba’s. Though Baleba has the frame to bully you in a match, Timber has more agility and adaptability in possession. So, that is important to Ten Hag’s system. He’s 23 and about to step into his prime. He already has five senior caps for the Netherlands as well.
There is also a twist in his Feyenoord situation. Robin van Persie, his current manager and United legend, wants to keep him but recently stripped him of the captaincy. That decision could open the door for United to strike if the right bid arrives before the deadline.
Timber’s potential move would give Man Utd a fresh engine in midfield. Additionally, it will also add another Dutch influence at Old Trafford.
