Tottenham manager Thomas Frank will hope that the Lilywhites compete hard on all four fronts in the upcoming season
What can a successful season look like for Tottenham? The Lilywhites managed to finish just a place above the relegation zone in the Premier League last season. They also recorded their lowest ever points tally in the league, managing to lose 22 games overall. So, anything above 17th place will be seen as an improvement as Thomas Frank takes charge at N17.
However, what really matters is how the team performs under the Danish tactician. The Lilywhites did not have a gameplan under Ange Postecoglou, and they relied on ‘all-out’ attack right from minute-one. But the team will operate differently under Thomas Frank, as he known for his tactical flexibility and ‘pragmatic’ approach.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank will hope that the Lilywhites compete hard on all four fronts in the upcoming season.
Tottenham will look to build on the Europa League success in the upcoming season.
The ex-Brentford boss is keen to build on the foundations set by Ange Postecoglou. And has often reiterated that the Lilywhites are aiming to compete hard on all four fronts in the upcoming season. The fans will hope that Spurs can go all the way in one of the domestic competitions, as well as, finish in the top-half of the Premier League table. Anything other than that will be seen as a failure for Thomas Frank.
Tottenham should look to finish in the top-half of the PL table
Competition in the Premier League is at its peak right now. We have got teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea all competing for the title. The race for Europe is also close as Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Manchester United come into the picture. So, Thomas Frank has a massive task of making Tottenham fight for the European spots in the upcoming season.
Now, Rob Guest has given his prediction on where the Lilywhites will finish in the upcoming Premier League season. Writing in his column for Football.London, Guest said,
“A top-four finish may be a bit too much considering how the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have strengthened ahead of the new term. I expect Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest to drop off a bit from last season and that could open the door for Spurs to really challenge for fifth.”
The renowned football writer added,
“The hope will be that Spurs can follow up their Europa League success last May but that may be a tall order. The FA Cup and Carabao Cup will represent their best chance of winning a trophy, although the top-four teams will be keen to triumph in those two competitions given the need to win a trophy when it could be oh so close in the Premier League and Champions League.”
Rob Guest believes that a top-four finish might be a longshot for Tottenham, considering how fierce the competition is at the top. The renowned writer adds that finishing fifth might be a possibility as Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa’s form is expected to drop-off. Guest also believes that Spurs will look to win a domestic competition to build on the Europa League success, but might face competition for that as well from top clubs.
Thomas Frank has indicated that he wants to make Spurs ‘serial winners’ during his time at the club. So, going all the way in either the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup might be seen as a priority. A strong Premier League finish will also lay the foundations for the upcoming years as the Danish tactician will look to make his mark at N17.
