Liverpool and Crystal Palace will "recommence" talks over a deal for Marc Guehi on Monday, according to BBC Sport journalist Sami Mokbel.
The reigning Premier League champions opened their campaign with a thrilling 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday night, with new signing Hugo Ekitike scoring and assisting one, while fellow summer signings Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz all started too.
But Arne Slot is still keen to add a new defender to his squad after sealing a deal for Parma youngster Giovanni Leoni before the game, and talks are now set to begin once more over a deal for England international Guehi.
Liverpool and Crystal Palace to Hold Guehi Talks on Monday
Marc Guehi in action for Crystal Palace
"The Liverpool situation has presented itself now. I think he would go. A deal at the moment, an agreement between the clubs isn't forthcoming and hasn't happened. My understanding is that Marc Guehi will play tomorrow against Chelsea, which is a bit of a risk when you consider injury and stuff like that, and then talks will recommence on Monday. But there is definitely legs in that deal."
