Anthony Gordon fires warning to Liverpool as Alexander Isak transfer saga continues

Anthony Gordon has warned Liverpool to expect a hostile atmosphere when they travel to face Newcastle next weekend. The two clubs have been embroiled in a long-running transfer saga involving Alexander Isak, who wants to leave the Magpies and move to Anfield. He was not involved in Newcastle's goalless draw with Aston Villa, having been exiled from the first-team squad.

Liverpool initially contacted Newcastle to put the feelers out before submitting an official bid earlier this month. They tabled a proposal of around £110million but the Tyneside club were quick to shut down their advances. It remains to be seen if Liverpool will go back in with a renewed offer before the transfer window closes.

They will travel to St James' Park to face Newcastle next weekend and Gordon believes the Reds could be in for a 'wild' afternoon with the Isak saga rumbling on.

Speaking on TNT Sports after Saturday's draw with Villa, he said: "With everything that has gone on, surely the atmosphere is going to be a bit wild. I'm just excited to see the home fans again, get back in the stadium and it's going to be a top game."
