Under-18s midfielder Floyd Samba says it was ideal to start the new campaign with a win.
Last season, the Blues picked up just one point from the first two games in U18 Premier League North but still went on to claim the title.
This 5-0 victory against Leeds pleased Samba who bagged a brace in the CFA triumph with further goals coming from Christian Dunbar-McDonald (2) and Kylan Midwood as our 2025/26 term got off to the perfect start.
Samba stated that to begin in this manner was an encouraging sign.
“Obviously it feels good because it’s always good to start with a win and get into a good momentum for the next game, so I’m very happy with that.

“I thought [my performance was] not bad, the two goals helped obviously, I’m just trying to build confidence and get on the ball more and try going forward to help the team by scoring or assisting.
“Obviously last season we started off with a draw and then the game after that we lost 2-0 to United, so to start like this is an improvement.”
On the next assignment at Sunderland next Friday - which you can watch on CITY+, he added: “I’m not sure how they’re going to play, but it’s good to get five goals, so hopefully we can score more next week.”
