Ederson was left out of Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Wolves as he edges closer to a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazilian has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world over the past decade, making 372 appearances for Man City and winning six Premier League titles.

Ederson endured an surprisingly poor 2024-25 campaign, however, and was dropped by Pep Guardiola following a difficult run in the team.

Clearly concerned by Ederson’s form, Guardiola sanctioned Man City’s move for their former goalkeeper James Trafford over the summer.

The England hopeful, who helped Burnley secure promotion from the Championship last season and amass 100 points, will start at Molineux on Saturday evening for Man City’s Premier League opener.

Stefan Ortega was named on City’s bench, with Ederson left out altogether as he closes in on a move to Turkish champions Galatasaray.

Galatasaray have made a bid worth around £8.5m to Man City but the Premier League giants are holding out for more.

The deal does look set to go through, however, as Ederson has already given the green light to the move.
