Fabrizio Romano: Nottingham Forest now in talks to sign Serie A star alongside Luiz after…

Nottingham Forest are still in talks with Yunus Musah's representatives over a move to the City Ground despite pursuing a deal for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Forest plan to make more signings and suggested that their interest in Luiz doesn't rule out the arrival of Musah. The Tricky Trees are keen on adding a versatile midfielder to Nuno Espirito Santo's squad, and they are exploring deals for the two Serie A stars.

Forest have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Luiz over a potential return to the Premier League after struggling to impress in Turin. It would seem that the Brazilian's arrival might not be the last piece of business conducted by Evangelos Marinakis.

Romano confirmed deals were in place to bring Manchester City midfielder James McAtee, Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson and Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo to the City Ground. But he also claimed that the club were continuing to hold discussions with Musah's entourage:

"After McAtee and Hutchinson with Kalimuendo on the way, Nottingham Forest plan for more signings. Talks continue with Juventus for Douglas Luiz, former Aston Villa player, keen on the move…and (Forest) also remain in contact with Yunus Musah’s camp this week."

Mariankis has splashed the cash to ensure Forest are able to challenge on all fronts, including in the Europa League. The acquisitions of McAtee (£30m), Hutchinson (£37m), and Kalimuendo (£27.1m) take the club's spending to over £100m, and Luiz looks to be next on their list.

The former Aston Villa man has stuttered in Turin, failing to live up to expectations and a move to Nottinghamshire gives him the chance to get his career back on track. But he could be followed by Musah, who could leave Milan if a suitable offer arrives for the American.

Musah, 22, joined the Rossoneri from Valencia in the summer of 2023 for a reported £17m, but he came in and out of the starting lineup last season. He has three years left on his contract, but could be on the move with Forest still interested.

The 47-cap USA international is a product of Arsenal's Hale End academy, offering a versatile profile that may be under consideration should the Tricky Trees make a concrete move. He can play out on the right and in attacking midfield alongside his preferred central midfield position.
