Celtics' Jayson Tatum drops a positive update on his rehab

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles tendon during the NBA playoffs last season. The injury is expected to sideline him for the entire next season. His injury has left Boston active in the offseason for all the wrong reasons, courtesy of some shocking departures. Nonetheless, amid the roster shake-up, Celtics fans finally received an update that would pump them up slightly.

Tatum, whose injury in Game 4 significantly altered their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Knicks, recently uploaded an Instagram clip where he dropped a powerful rehab update.

“Rehab station, lift after that,” [Tatum said](https://nesn.com/2025/08/jayson-tatum-sheds-light-grueling-injury-rehab/). “Six days a week, bro. I ain’t in here six days a week for no reason.”

Tatum's words suggest that the former NBA champion is doing everything in his power to make sure he hits the floor as soon as possible. He averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 72 games last season. Moreover, he shot 45.2% from the floor and 34.3% from the 3-point line.

While Tatum continues with his rehab, Boston has made some big moves. They have traded two All-Stars (shipping Kristaps Porziņģis to Atlanta and Jrue Holiday to Portland) and they might not be done yet with trade rumors circling around his running mate, Jaylen Brown, as well.

Without Tatum, Boston cannot be considered a contender. This is also why the team is making sure to get under the second apron of the NBA’s new salary cap so that they don't attract strict penalties. When Tatum returns, the Celtics will once again be contenders, but with a changed roster.
