NBA writer believes Bucks' 2023 deadline deal is still haunting Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Bucks have made plenty of big moves in recent years, but one might stand out as the worst.

Since winning a championship in 2021, the Bucks have been trying to put together the perfect pieces around Giannis Antetokounmpo to raise the Larry O’Brien Trophy again. However, with three straight first-round exits and only one playoff series win since that title, the Bucks have fallen short of putting together a consistent contender.

While there are a number of moves that can be pointed to as clear mistakes, a deadline deal might have taken the No. 1 spot. As recently written by [FanSided](https://behindthebuckpass.com/jae-crowder-trade-still-haunts-bucks)’s Franco Luna, the Bucks’ biggest regret in recent years might be the Jae Crowder deal.

Although it seemed like a worthwhile gamble at the time, sending out five second-round picks for a player who never made a positive impact in Milwaukee was a steep price. Luna also explained how Milwaukee certainly could have used some of those second-round picks this offseason, given the team’s lack of overall flexibility.

Crowder’s price at the time was also seen as steep, especially given that he had been sitting out the entire season after throwing a fit about his role in Phoenix. While nothing about the 2022-23 season will be remembered all that fondly by Bucks fans, the Crowder trade will continue to haunt them.

Not only was the move bad at the time, it might end up playing a part in Antetokounmpo’s eventual departure, as the Bucks are still in need of more assets.
