Vikings Pro Bowler impressed by Patriots pass rush at joint practices

The Patriots’ pass rush has been one of team’s bright spots through three-plus weeks of training camp.

They were able to bring the heat Wednesday on the first day of joint practices against the Vikings before getting stymied on Day 2.

Still, Vikings Pro Bowl offensive tackle Brian O’Neill was impressed by the group when speaking to the Herald on Thursday.

“They got some players,” O’Neill said. “It was a good test for us to see (Christian) Barmore back out there today. That’s obviously going to make a big difference for them. I got a ton of respect for Harold (Landry). I played against him before, and just everything I hear about him is true professional. And then Milton (Williams has) got some juice for sure, too, sure so. And Keion (White) is pretty good, too, off the edge, and he’s able to do it from both sides, which not a lot of guys can do. So they play hard. You can tell they’re really well coached. It was a really good two days of work for us.”

Patriots backup outside linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson has also had a strong summer after signing as a free agent.

Barmore, Landry, Williams and White have regularly been in the backfield when facing the Patriots’ offensive line, as well. The Patriots’ pass rush was among the worst in the NFL last season. Landry, Williams and Chaisson all signed this offseason. Barmore missed most of last year with blood clots. He didn’t practice Wednesday but was on the field for joint practices Thursday.
