Just in: David Ornstein says Nottingham Forest closing in on ‘world-class’ star as fourth…

Nottingham Forest are reportedly close to finalising a deal to bring Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz back to the Premier League.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Forest are "closing in on a permanent deal" for Luiz amid a busy week of incomings at the City Ground. They have already swooped for Manchester City midfielder James McAtee and Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson.

Luiz could become the Tricky Trees' fourth signing this week, following Arnaud Kalimuendo through the door. The French striker is undergoing a medical to complete a move from Rennes.

Nottingham Forest Close In On Douglas Luiz

Douglas Luiz in action for Juventus

Luiz has struggled in Turin since joining Juve from Aston Villa last summer, unable to replicate his impressive form shown during his spell at Villa Park. The Brazilian is now set to return to the English top-flight, although there is no word on how much Forest are prepared to pay the Old Lady.

Forest are set to participate in the Europa League next season after Crystal Palace failed with an appeal against their removal from the competition. Nuno Espirito Santo will want proven experience as his side battles domestically and in Europe.

Luiz was one of the Premier League's most highly-admired midfielders during his time at Villa Park, registering an impressive tally of 10 goals and as many assists in his final campaign with the Midlands outfit. He has four years left on his contract at Juve, but the Serie A giants are ready to sell this summer.

The 18-cap Brazil international, previously hailed as a "world-class" talent, won't be the only midfield signing made by Evangelos Marinakis and might not be the last. McAtee is set to arrive at the City Ground from Manchester City in a £37.5m deal, while Ornstein claims Forest are also working on a deal to sign the Cityzens' Rico Lewis.
