Could Calvert-Lewin make his debut against former club? Predicted Leeds XI vs. Everton

Leeds United new boy Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be hopeful of being passed fit to feature against his former club Everton in the Premier League on Monday night.

Calvert-Lewin left the Toffees on a free transfer over the summer after nine years with the club, with the striker leaving under a bit of a cloud, after off-field matters which led to a fractured relationship.

The 28-year-old has only scored 17 Premier League goals across the last four seasons, due to a mix of fitness issues, and a lack of confidence in front of goal, and that could see manager Daniel Farke opt to stick with Joel Piroe from the start in this one.

Farke is also restricted on what he can do defensively, with Jayden Bogle a major doubt with a hip injury, and Sebastiaan Bornauw missing with a calf problem.

To add insult to injury, new signing Jaka Bijol is suspended after he was sent off for Udinese against Fiorentina on the final day of last season, so the familiar pairing of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk are set to start.

Lucas Perri has arrived from Lyon and is expected to take the number one spot off Illan Meslier, while Junior Firpo’s exit over the summer should see Gabriel Gudmundsson, who played Champions League football with Lille last term, take over at left-back.

Anton Stach has been Leeds’ most expensive summer recruit, and after scoring against AC Milan last week, the German is expected to start in midfield, potentially keeping Sean Longstaff out.

After spending the last two seasons on loan at Everton, Jack Harrison has returned to Leeds, and should be in the squad here, even if it is only as a substitute.

Leeds United possible starting lineup:

Lucas Perri; Byram, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Tanaka, Ampadu, Stach; James, Piroe, Gnonto
