Dillon Gabriel impressive in Browns debut

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Rookie Dillon Gabriel impressed in his Browns debut, going 13-of-18 for 143 yards in the first half, as Cleveland trailed Philadelphia 13-12 at the break.

He connected with 8 different receivers.

Gabriel looks like expected. The ball will be out quick. On time. Probably nothing terribly special but just efficient. He’s going to be play forever in the NFL as a fringe starter/high quality backup.

Gabriel led the team to a touchdown on its opening drive, converting three 3rd downs. Ahmani Marshall scored on a 4-yard TD run.

The Browns were driving again when Gabriel was intercepted by Andrew Mukuba, who took it 75 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the 2nd quarter.

I’m never happy to see bad things happen to my Browns but I love to see my former @TexasFootball players put in work in the league🤘🏾@Andrewmukuba2 pick 6 and fumble recovery

Gabriel’s 3rd drive ended on a sack by Philadelphia’s Aziz Ojulari, so Cleveland had to settle for a Dustin Hopkins 46-yard field goal to make the score 9-7 Browns.

His 4th drive lasted just 1 play as Pierre Strong fumbled on the Browns 31-yard line.

Gabriel went 3-for-5 on his final drive of the first half, leading to another Hopkins field goal.

Left tackle Dawand Jones, who played the first 2 series, was the only Browns starting offensive lineman to play.
